After the meeting she will conducting a mini workshop. The cost of the workshop is $25. If you are attending the workshop, bring your own supplies (listed below). Advance reservation is not necessary. Pay at the door and make check out to Maureen Brouillette for the workshop $25. This intensive three hour class is designed to get everyone off to a flying start using collage and paint to make a creative mixed media painting.
You will need to bring the following items for the workshop:
- Supports: one or two small (9x12 or 12x12) canvases or canvas boards -or- 140lb. watercolor paper in similar sizes
- Whatever water-based paint you like, in whatever colors you prefer. Maureen will be using Golden and Liquitex acrylics...mostly earth tones plus a few brighter accent colors. Bring watercolors, if that's all you have.
- Your favorite brushes
- Any drawing materials you are fond of such as pencil, ink, charcoal, pastels, color pencils and water soluble crayons
- Scissors, paper towels, palette
- Acrylic matte medium if you already have some. If not, Maureen will have a large bottle of it to share.
- Collage material (the most important part) -- Bring your own black and white, or color images, pictures from magazines, post cards, fabric, ribbon, old drawings or paintings, rice and tissue papers, old books, receipts, letters, tickets, maps, candy wrappers, labels, stamps, etc., etc. Copies of family or vacation photos(not the originals) are also nice. Bring any two dimensional elements that speak to you.
The main thing is to bring images of various sizes so that you can create a good design format for your piece(s). Your dominate image is going to be your center of interest, so make that LARGE in comparison with your other components in the painting. It should cover about 25% of the surface of your canvas, or paper.
